MORTON, Dec. 13. (Special) - Mrs. Gene Farmer of Morton has received a letter from the Adjutant General confirming the death of her husband, Sgt. Augustus Gene Farmer, 31, who was reported kiled [sic] on November 22nd in the North American area. Sgt. Farmer was with the Air Corps.

He was Lost when B-17G #42-31219 crashed over Lake Melville, 30 miles north of Goose Bay, Newfoundland-Labrador, Canada when en route upon deployment to Rattlesden Air Base, England.
The crew is listed here in the virtual cemetery for B-17G #42-31219. All but one of the crew, Sgt Lorenz A Kirchoff, is believed to have been recovered.
