After being mustered out he re-enlisted on August 21st, 1863, at New York City, New York, for three years service, and was mustered into service as a Private in Company F of the 17th New York Veteran Volunteer Infantry Regiment on October 13th, 1863. He served with the regiment throughout its campaigns in Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina, as part of the army of Major General William T. Sherman. Taking part in the Grand Review of the Union Armies in Washington, D.C., in May of 1865, he was mustered out of service with the Company on July 13th, 1865, at Alexandria, Virginia.
