Bessie Davis Anderson was born on April 4, 1916, in Green County to the Late Flora Greene Penick and Robert Wilson Anderson. She was the third oldest of eight children. Early Monday morning at the Taylor Reginal Hospital, God saw fit to call Bessie home. She professed faith in Christ at an early age and united with the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Greensburg. At her death she was the oldest member of the church. She served as a member of the culinary committee, and was a member ofthe Usher Board, a member of the Missionary Society, sang with the Mother's Board Choir, and a former of the Usher Board of the NAACP.
Bessie Davis Anderson united in marriage to Harvey Anderson on December 13. 1936. They were married for seventy years and eleven months.He preceded her in death on November 17, 2007.Bessie was an extremly haedworker. She labored in the fields and milk barn,alongside her husband. her hobbies were gardening, nuturingmany different kinds of plants and piecing quilts. She wasfondly known as "Aunt Bessie" to many, but as "Bunt" to her sisters, Mattie,and brothers. Beside her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister , Mattie Louise Groves, and four brothers, Jim alonzo, Carl Ellis, Lucian Farris, and Willie Fred, of Greensburg; She leaves to mourn her passing two sisters; Ruth Amderson, and Christine Mitchell,all of Greensburg; one sister-in-law Ida Cleo Curry, and one brother-in-law, Fred David Anderson, all of Louisville. Also, she leaves ahost of nieces and nephews including two devoted nieces, Peggy and Diane Anderson, of Campbellsville; and a devoted nephew Rudolphus Anderson,of LOuisville; and many cousins and friends and acquaintances.
Funeral services were at the PLeasant Hill Baptist Church on Saturday January 16, Reverend Emmanuel Young and Reverene Michael Caldwell officiated, Interment will follow in the Harvey Anderson Cemetery., Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home were in charge of the arrangements.
