Sarah Hazel Roudabush Richardson, 99, formerly of 715 Alleghany Avenue, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Shenandoah House.
Hazel was born September 9, 1914 in Augusta County, the daughter of the late Charles Earnest and Anna Belle Hanger Roudabush.
She graduated from Beverly Manor High School in 1931. She worked at Hogshead Drug Store, Leggett Department Store, and Staunton Furniture Company prior to her marriage.
Her husband of 61 years, Cecil Tines Richardson, died in November 2001. In her later years, she worked for R. Frank Rankin Tax Service.
Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, a devoted homemaker and cook, and a generous friend. She was an active member of the Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class and a lifetime member of Central United Methodist Church, starting on the Cradle Roll.
Surviving are three sons, Samuel E. Richardson and his wife Beverly, Thomas E. Richardson and his companion Patricia J. Elliott, and Dr. Alan T. Richardson and his wife Anita; all of Staunton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Roudabush, Jr. and her sister, Lucille Roudabush Hiner.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Central United Methodist Church, Lewis Street at Beverley, Staunton, VA with Pastor Won Un officiating. Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Central United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 953, Staunton, VA 24402.
