John William "Muff" Adams, age 70, of Grandview Drive, Cynthiana, Kentucky, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at Harrison Memorial Hospital, in Cynthiana. Born in Harrison County, Kentucky, on April 30, 1939, to the late McKinley and Angie Hill Adams, he was a retired Harrison County physical education teacher, a former principal at Southside Elementary School, a United States Marine veteran and a member of Cynthiana Elks Lodge #438.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: two sisters, Minerva Hampton and Maxi Fryman; and a grandson, Jason Holland. He is survived by: his wife, Shirley Adams; two sons, George Janes and Darryl (Carlene) Janes, both of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; two daughters, Chere (Tom) Seaman, of Panama City, Florida, and Vickie (Brad) Whalen, of Cynthiana; a sister, Margaret Ellen (Houston) Rose, of Cynthiana; eight grandchildren; and a great grandson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Ware Funeral Home by Sam Harris. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, with the Elks memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Leesburg Christian Church.
