Maxine E. Miller, 80, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on January 17, 2010, at Avera Prince of Peace Retirement Community. Maxine Ellen Wells was born September 22, 1929 in Gary, SD to Dewey and Mabel (Jensen). She lived on the farm until she graduated from Gary High School in 1947. Maxine went on to Beauty School in Watertown, SD, and graduated in 1948. She moved to DeSmet, SD and opened her own beauty shop.
In 1949, Maxine met Donald Miller and they were married on July 22, 1951. Then in 1953, the young couple moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where her children Dennis and Vicki were born. In 1968, the family moved to Madison, SD, and owned Piersons Motor Lodge. They moved back to Sioux Falls, in 1970 and their son Jason was born. During this period, Maxine was mom and housewife, taking care of her family. Donald passed away on April 13, 1979. Maxine worked different jobs but spent ten years employed with Help Your Child Daycare. She retired in 1995, but continued by taking care of her granddaughter Makayla and being a loving mom and grandma to her family. Maxine was a member of First Lutheran Church.
Grateful for sharing her life are her sons Dennis (Teresa) Miller, Madison, SD, Jason Miller, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter Vicki Frye, Sioux Falls, SD, sister Lorraine Jesme, Gary, SD; 4 grandchildren Makayla Frye, Shawn (Stephanie) Miller, Nathan (Jennifer) Miller, Adam Miller; 4 great grandchildren, Savannah, Sawyer, Manon, and Remy Miller; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation with the family present will begin at 1 pm with a funeral service beginning at 2 pm on Thursday, January 21, 2010, at First Lutheran Church with burial at Hills of Rest Memorial Park
