Myrtle Evelin Dennis was the daughter of Chester Willard Dennis (1874-1923) who was born in Illinois and Meda June Richardson (1877-1950) born in Adair County, Missouri. Myrtle's parents were living in Macon County, Missouri when they met and married on January 1, 1903 in Elmer, Missouri.

Henry Willard Dennis 1907 – 1907
Everett Lawrence Dennis 1910 – 2002
Tom Roy Dennis 1912 – 1999
John W. Dennis 1914 – 1993

Myrtle was never married. Her father died when she was 15 years old and she along with her siblings had to be farmed out to work for their room and board. Her brothers became farmhands, and Myrtle and her sister Della lived in the homes of elderly people in the community for most of their lives as caretakers/companions.

When the wife of Myrtle's younger brother Tom Dennis was in poor health, she went to Kirksville, Missouri to live with and care for them. [These were this writer's parents.] She enjoyed doing domestic things like cooking, cleaning, and sewing. She had a unique way of doing things and had learned to get by in hard times.

When her brother's wife died, she continued to live with her brother. Tom's only child [this writer] took care of their business and Myrtle was able to live in his home until she died of a stroke on October 18, 1991.
