Edgar was born March 9, 1927 in Blackbird, OK to Talmon and Fannie (Bragg) Hicks.
On July 17, 1946 Edgar and Minnie Frances Krider were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, AR and to this union four children were born. Edgar was a member of the Seymour Church of Christ. Edgar was a resident of Ava most of his life. He was a Truck Driver and Mechanic for many years working for Heath & Son and other companies. Edgar enjoyed his farm, gardening, American History (especially Lewis & Clark Expeditions), fishing and family barbeques. He was devoted to his wife, Minnie, his family and his church. Edgar delighted in getting to know people, for he never met a stranger. He had a great sense of humor that everyone enjoyed. He will be greatly missed.
Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Minnie, a granddaughter, Maggy Hicks, a grandson, Michael Hicks, a daughter-in-law, Rita Hicks, four brothers and two sisters.
Edgar is survived by his four children, Larry Hicks, Macomb (Brushyknob), MO, Janice Sanders, Marshfield, MO, Danny and Roy Hicks both of Ava, MO, 18 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, one sister, Clara Harrison, Ava, MO, two brothers, Leno Hicks and Robert Hicks both of AR and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Edgar will be Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Denney Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, December 4, 2009 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Harlin Howerton. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Denney Cemetery.
