Julian C. Dillard, 79, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Richfield Nursing Center. He was born June 19, 1924 in Salem. Julian was a lifetime member and served as a deacon at First Christian Church of Salem. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII where he was awarded a Bronze Star. Julian is survived by his wife, Frances V. Dillard; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Patty Dillard of Stuart; a daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Neil Wheeler of Chester; and four grandchildren, Anthony Dillard, Erin Dillard, Angela Bainter and Betsy Wheeler. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem with Dan Netting and Neil Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 7, 2004 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
