VALLEY, AL -- Mrs. Magdalene Watkins Bishop, 68, of Valley died Sunday morning, 4 Nov 2001 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, AL.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, 6 Nov 2001 at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley, AL with Rev Randy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Cemetery.

Mrs. Bishop is survived by her sister, Elizabeth W. (Harold) Patton of Remlap, AL; her brother, J.C. (Bennie) Watkins of Birmingham, AL; and several nieces and nephews.

Born 28 Feb 1933 in Tallapoosa County, AL, Mrs. Bishop was a lifelong resident of the Valley area and had retired from West Point Stevens Shawmut Mill after 47 years of service. She had been in declining health for the past two years. She was a member of Valley First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bishop. She was the daughter of the late Annie Mae Hartman Watkins and John Olin Watkins.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Valley First Baptist Church in her memory.

The family will receive friends Monday, 5 Nov 2001 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley, AL.
