Mrs. Mary Virginia "Jennie" Luke Powell Phillips, 77, of Powell Road, Augusta, Georgia, entered into rest at 10:40 a.m., Wednesday, April 2, 1969 in an Augusta hospital after an extended illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at Oak Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Olin Sizemore, assisted by the Rev. Jerry Castleberry. Burial will be in Marvin Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gerald Powell, Gene Powell, Sanders Powell, Vernon Ponder, Jerry Nelson and Bubba Phillips. Mrs. Phillips was a native of Richmond County. Survivors include her husband, William L. Phillips; four sons, Clarence E. Powell, Augusta, Charles F. Powell, Hephzibah, Ga., Cluese A. Powell, Oak Harbor, Wash., and Carlford C. Powell, Lexington Park, Md.; three daughters, Mrs. A.E. Reynolds, Grovetown, Ga., Mrs. A.V. Ponder and Mrs. Bobby Sharpe, both of Martinez, Ga.; two brothers, M.I. Luke, Vero Beach, Fla., and W.D. Luke, Augusta; four stepsons, W.R. Phillips, Augusta, Clarence Phillips, and J.V. Phillips, both of Charlotte, N.C. and Bobby Phillips, U.S. Army Germany; and stepdaughter, Mrs. E.H. Morris, Augusta. Elliott Sons.
