Sophia M Aggen The Sheboygan Press July 17, 1939

After a lingering illness, Mrs. Henry Aggen, 65, nee Mary Sophia Wichmann, passed away at her home, 1317 N. Seventh street, Sunday evening.
Mrs. Aggen was born in New Holstein, March 17, 1874, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Wichmann. She attended school there and was married to Henry Aggen on Nov. 21, 1895, in New Holstein. Mr. and Mrs. Aggen lived there until 22 years ago, when they moved to Sheboygan where they have resided since. Of prime interest in her life was her home and she enjoyed making things to beautify it. Her artistic ability was given interpretation in needle-work, and a childhood desire to paint was realized in the later years of her life when she made many beautiful oil paintings which members of her family and friends cherish. Gardening was another hobby of hers. Mrs. Aggen endeared herself to many with her thoughtfulness of others, revealed in many kindnesses, and her lovely mannerisms. Hers was a sterling Christian character. She was an active member of the Women's Missionary society of the Zion Reformed church.
Mourning her death are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Loraine DeSmith, this city; one son, Hubert, of Manitowoc; and two granddaughters, Carol and Marilyn Aggen, also of Manitowoc. Four sisters and one brother also survive; Mrs. William Moehr and Mrs. Frank Fuhrmann both of Peshtigo; Mrs. George Thede, Jr., New Holstein, and Edward Wichmann, Fond du Lac.
