Betty Sheets, 72, of Knox formerly of Wanatah passed away on Sunday March 15, 2009 at Starke Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 12, 1937 to John Orenick and Elsie (Miller) Thellman. She graduated from Hammond High School and went on to own and operate Sheets Blueberry Farm, retiring in 2001. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas in Knox and was active in the Red Hat Society of Bass Lake, Ladies of the Lake, and BLPOA. She enjoyed reading, casinos, bunko with the ladies and spending time with her grandchildren.
On June 2, 1956 she married Larry Sheets Jr. who preceded her in death in 1996. She has 2 children, Larry (Kim) Sheets III of Knox and Lisa (Gene Jr.) Dunfee of Knox, 2; brothers, John and Bill Orenick; 2 sisters, Susan O'Conner and Sheila Young; 5 grandchildren: Alexis and Larry IV Sheets and Seth, Samantha and Allison Dunfee. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church 406 E. Washington St. Knox, IN 46534 at 10:30 am Friday March 20, 2009, with Father Jerry Schweitzer and Father John Scott officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday March 19, 2009 from 4-8 pm at Wanatah Funeral Chapel 309 N Main Wanatah IN. 46390. Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
