Born about 1778 in Plumstead, Bucks Co, PA. Son of Sarah Groves and Elijah Doan(5), Israel(4), Daniel(3), Daniel(2) and Deacon John Doane(1). In early life removed to Canada with his brothers and settled in the Niagra district. Israel moved to Canada with some of his brothers and a sister, settling in Louth Twp., Lincoln Co., Niagra District. Israel first settled beside his brother Jonathon at Lot 20, Conc.1 Wainfleet Twp., near Pt. Colborne along Lake Erie. It is unknown when he moved to the Twp. of Louth, which is along Lake Ontario. Married 1800 to Mary Line who is buried beside him. At least 4 children: Jonathan, Benjamin, Israel Adam and Philip. Taken from Doane Family Association book. He went to Webster, Monroe County New York possibly from Yarmouth Twp. Elgin County. He is [reportedly] buried in West Webster along with a son Philip and his family.
