SERVICES ARE CONDUCTED FOR MRS. JENNIE HELM

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Jennie Maude Helm, 58, wife of James Helm, prominent Merced and Mariposa County Stockman, who died Monday, April 1st, from pneumonia, which followed a major operation at the Mercy hospital ten days before, at the Ivers and Alcorn chapel.

Mrs. Helm was widely known and well liked in both Mariposa and Merced Counties. She was prominent in lodge work, having been a past Worthy Matron of the Mariposa Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Le Grand Rebekah Lodge. She also attended Grand Lodge of the Eastern Star several times, and was a delegate from Mariposa Chapter a number of years ago.

She was born in Charleston N. H. and came to California twenty-five years ago. In 1913 she married James Helm in Le Grand and they have make their home at Whiterock in Mariposa County since that time.

Her husband survives, with a brother, Frank S. Lord of Providence, R. I., two sisters Mrs. Grace M. Kendall and Mrs. Kate B. Rapp, both of Le Grand and also a sister-in-law, Mrs. Earl Southward of Le Grand.

The services were conducted by Reverend D. C. Williams of Madera, followed by Eastern Star rites in the Masonic Temple at Mariposa and burial in the Mariposa cemetery.
