From "The Minteers As I Have Known Them" by Josephine Minteer Dickinson (1961 limited-edition private printing of 200 copies), youngest and last surviving of William Minteer and Mary Nicholson's 85 grandchildren:

"Elizabeth was married to Robert Galbraith. Aunt Betty was 'the cook'-noted in family and community. Bob Galbraith, who came from Jefferson County, was not well received by Grandmother. He gave up on the first daughter he dated, but later turned to her younger sister, Betty. When Uncle James took Betty to his home to keep her from seeing Bob, she outwitted them all by eloping. They had a nice farm near Slate Lick but decided to go west. They sold their farm and their goods, then Bob took all the money and went west alone, leaving Betty and her five boys. They came home to the old farm and lived there with Uncle John and Aunt Betsy. In a few years Bob returned, repentant. However, he only stayed a short while and then left never to return. Their twin girls were born shortly after that. As soon as they were able the older boys went to the oil fields in Bradford, Oil City, Parker City, etc., and became very successful. They followed this business all of their lives. They were all good to their mother, supporting her generously. At the close of the Civil War, Father sold the home in Worthington to Aunt Betty and she spent the rest of her life there."

In 1820 and 1830 the Minteer farm where she lived with her parents and siblings was in Buffalo Township in Armstrong County, PA. By 1840 the population had increased sufficiently that that the northern part of Buffalo Township had become Franklin Township, so the farm had a new address.

In 1850 she and her husband and seven children lived on a farm in North Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, PA. Robert owned real estate worth $1000.

In 1860 she and her eight children lived there on the farm.

In 1870 she and five of her children lived in Worthington, PA.

In 1880 and 1900 she and her daughter Margaret lived in Worthington. In 1900 she owned their home, mortgage free.
