Franklin enlisted as a Sergeant 1st Class in Company K, 43rd Infantry Regiment Indiana on 17 October 1861. He was promoted to Full Lieutenant 2nd Class on 04 October 1862 effective 04 October 1862, and promoted again to Full Lieutenant 1st Class on 17 October 1862 effective 01 November 1864. Franklin was discharged from Company K, 43rd Infantry Regiment Indiana on 18 October 1864.

Death of Frank J. Moore
Frank J. Moore, the father of postmaster, J. P. Moore, of Akron, died last night at his home in Akron.
F. J. Moore was an old soldier and an early settler in Cowley county. He has been an invalid for several months. His death is attributed to bright's disease.
Mr. Moore had just passed his sixtieth milestone. He leaves a family of five girls and three boys.
Interment will be in Akron cemetery at 6 p. m. today.
