Girst H. Dunkel, 86, of East Pennsboro Twp. died Wednesday in Holy Spirit Hospital.

He was retired from the former John Harris High School, where he was a teacher and football and basketball coach; formerly taught and coached in the Columbia School System; was a member of the former St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Harrisburg; and was a member of Perseverance F&AM Lodge 21, Harrisburg Consistory, Zembo Shrine Temple and its Luncheon Club, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest 43, the Tech Golden Legion and the Lemoyne Senior Citizens Club.

He was the widower of Katharine W. Dunkel. Surviving are nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hillsdale Cemetery, Londonderry Twp.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

Neill Funeral Home, Camp Hill, is handling arrangements.
