"Peter Jorgensen, aged 75 years, a former resident of this city, died at Dodge Center, Minn. Sunday evening, July 12, following an extended illness. The body was brought to this city and funeral services held at the Baptist church on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Searcy, of Oskaloosa. Obituary next week."

"L. Peter Jorgenson was born in Denmark April 26, 1850 and died July 12, 1825 near Dodge Center, Minnesota at the home of his nephew, James Rasmussen, aged 75 years, 2 months and 16 days.
Mr. Jorgenson's school privileges were of a superior order. He received a good education in his native tongue, but his knowlege of the English language was all acquired after coming to America in 1872. He crossed the Atlantic and took up his residence in Chicago, where he spent ten years working as a mason's assistant during the building season. In 1881 he came to Calhoun county, Iowa, and soon purchased a farm of 160 acres.
He was married April 5, 1884 to Miss Maria Rasmussen, also of Denmark, who died July 24, 1914. He went to Minneapolis in October, 1914.
He was a member of the Baptist church of Lake City. He was of a lovable nature and much admired for his Christian character by all who knew him. The hymns sang at his funeral were those of his own selection.
He leaves to mourn his passing his nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. James Rasmussen and son Floyd; also a nephew, Nels Jorgenson of Lanesboro; and a few other relatives in Lake City and many friends and neighbors.
Services were held at the home July 13, at 2 p.m., Rev. C. E. Mead of the Methodist church preaching from Phil. 1:21 'To die is gain.'
Funeral services were also conducted at the First Baptist church of Lake City on Wednesday after noon at 2 o'clock, pastor J. M. Wilson in charge and the sermon was preached by a former pastor, Rev. Thos. A. Searcy of Oskaloosa. A mixed quartet, viz Mr. Burge Hammond, Mr. John Oxenford, Mrs. J. M. Wilson and Mrs. Bauman, sang 'I love to tell the story,' 'Beautiful Isle of Somewhere,' 'Asleep in Jesus.' Interment in Cottonwood cemetery."

he has quitted forever this wilderness dreary,
Has bid farewell to time and its woes.'
Funeral services were held at the J. Rasmusson home Monday afternoon and the body taken to Lake City, Iowa, where it was interred in the cemetery there Wednesday, July 15th. Mr. and Mrs. Rasmusson and son accompanied the body there."
