There are minor discrepancies regarding her name. Her obituary lists it as Cordia Delia and Cordia is the name on her headstone. In her father's obituary her name is listed as Cordelia.

DEATH CLAIMS MRS. J.R. DANIEL RITES APRIL 19
Highly Esteemed Mother Succumbed on Tuesday

After a protracted illness of some months, the Angel of Death summoned the spirit of Mrs. J.R. Daniel, of China Creek, to her eternal home early Tuesday, April 18th, at the age of 69 years and three months.

Funeral services for her were being conducted this Wednesday, April 19th, at one o’clock at the family residence by Minister Loye C. Ruckman, of the Church of Christ. Burial was to take place at the Live Oak Cemetery in Erath County.

She was born January 13, 1875 [sic].

Surviving are five sons and three daughters. A more complete obituary will be published next week.

Her husband passed to his reward in 1926.

Cordia Delia Daniel

Cordia Delia Daniel, 69 who passed away, 7 o’clock in the morning, Tuesday, April 18, at the family home, had been in failing health for years. However, that morning she appeared better, her daughter, Mrs. O.J. Melton thought when she went into her mother’s room. They had laughed and talked together as the daughter straightened the mother’s bedding. But when Mrs. Melton turned to Mrs. Daniel again, she was shocked to see her breathing her last. Death was caused from heart failure.

Mrs. Daniel was born January 13, 187? in Bell County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Hayes. She was married to J.R. Daniel December 25, 1899.

Funeral services were conducted by Minister Loye Ruckman, pastor of the Church of Christ at the Daniel home one o’clock, Wednesday, April 19. Interment was at Purvis, Texas. Pallbearers were Dick Clark, Alan S????, Ray Grumbles, Penny Johnson, Pete Johnson and John Perry. She also leaves 20 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, five brothers and five sisters.

Surviving are the following children: Mrs. O.J. Melton, San Saba; Hearel Daniel, Dublin; Leonard Daniel, Mrs. Vera Donald, San Antonio; Jimmie Daniel, San Saba; Calvin Daniel, Vinton, Louisiana; J. Lee Daniel, San Saba.

The deceased moved to Comanche County when a little girl. She spent her early married life in Comanche, moving to San Saba in 1915. Her husband preceded her in death, 17 years. She had been a life long member of the Church of Christ.

In the passing of Mrs. Daniel a kind friend and neighbor, a loving and faithful mother, grandmother and sister will be missed but the memory of her will brighten her loved ones’ paths.
