Rites Held For Leonard Daniel, 69

Funeral services were held for James Leonard Daniel, 69, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, in Howell-Doran Chapel, conducted by Bill Thomppson of Abilene. Burial was in Wallace Creek Cemetery under the direction of Howell-Doran Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Ted Burnham, Dick Clark, Hudson Kelly, Wallace Hinyard, Ernie Vogel and August Cagle.

Daniel died Saturday, Aug. 17, in his home at 801 W. Church Street. A retired rancher, he had lived in San Saba county since 1915. Born Oct. 15, 1898 in Erath county, he was the son of James R. Daniel and Corda Hayes Daniel. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He married Maggie McKown June 5, 1917 in San Saba county. She died in February 1967.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. George S. DeVoll of Lancaster; four brothers, H.L. Daniel of Gustine, J. Lee and J.E. Daniel of San Saba, Calvin Daniel of Austin; two sisters, Mrs. O.J. Melton of Commerce and Mrs. Vera Gross, San Antonio; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two daughters.
