John Jenkins was born in South Wales, Oct 11, 1815. He probably came to the states in 1836. He married Elizabeth Lewis around 1847, probably in Ohio. By 1860 he settled in Salisbury, Meigs, OH and was a coal miner. Later they moved to Streator, LaSalle Co, IL and was a teamster.
They had 9 children: Susannah, Jane, David, Mary A, Margaret E, Sarah, Thomas, John L and Elizabeth. He died on Feb 7, 1899 in Streator, IL.
