Bus Hatch Rites Held Tuesday in Vernal 1st Ward
Funeral Services were held Tuesday at 2:30 pm in the Vernal Fist Ward Chapel for Bus Hatch 65 of Vernal who died Saturday in the Uintah County Hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Hatch was born April 20 1902 in Vernal to Frank and Julianna Swain Hatch. He married Eve Caldwell September – in Vernal. She died January 13 1962. He married Mary Paulson.
Mr. Hatch was a prominent contractor in the Vernal area. He contracted the building of the Central School, the municipal swimming pool the first Safeway store later the first Vernal Bowling Alley which was burned, the Bus depot. The Vernal Express building and a great number of houses in the Vernal area.
He was founder and operator of Hatch River Expeditions. He took his first boat trip in 1926 in wooden boats. He was associated with a movie for Howell Thomas.
Mr. Hatch once flew to Pakistan and ran the Indus River. This exploration made him one of only a few Utah members of the Explorer's Club.
He was a member of the LDS Church.
Survivors include his widow, sons; Gus, Memphis, Tennessee, Don and Frank both of Salt Lake City. Ted, Vernal. – grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Alton, Boulder Colorado. Tom, Juneau, Alaska, Mrs. Royce (Thelma) Mowrey, Vernal.
Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery.
