Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Balko, Okla., with the Rev. Carol Coulter officiating. Memorial services will follow at 4 p.m. at Waka Church of Brethren. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
Mrs. Carter was born in Clarendon and had lived in the area since 1915. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service and was Postmistress at the Waka Post Office from 1963 until retiring in 1978. She was a member of Waka Church of Brethren.
She married Howard Carter in 1934 at Stratford. From 1963 until 1969, she and her husband ran Waka Store. He died in 1994.
Survivors include a son, Howard Carter of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Cleta Weemes of Hereford; a brother, Kenneth Kutch of St. Augustine, Fla.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
