Thelma M. Evans, 96, entered into God's eternal care, Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Columbia Cottages, Hanover.
Born July 2, 1917, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Espenedia (Sterner) Auchey. Thelma was the loving wife of the late John Dale Evans who died June 3, 1973.
Mrs. Evans retired in 1995 from the Bon Ton Department Store in Hanover where she was employed as a clerk for 21 years. Thelma was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Hanover, as well as the AARP Chapter #1842 and the Mall Pace Setters.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her sister, Jean Kessler of Hanover; sister-in-law, Grace Pinter of New Oxford; and sister-in-law, Marian Auchey of Hanover. She was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor Heldibridle; her brothers, Clyde Auchey, Harry Auchey and Glenn Auchey. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, with the Rev. Kathryn Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in Dillsburg Cemetery, Dillsburg. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Thelma may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut St., Hanover, PA 17331. The Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, has been entrusted by the family with the funeral arrangements.
