Retired Fire Department Captain Dead At 62

Eugene P. Billings of 1824 Oliver, a retired Fire Department captain, died of leukemia at 10:30 a.m. yesterday at John Gaston Hospital. He had been ill five months. He was 62.

Mr. Billings retired in 1953 after 24 years on the Fire Department. Born in Atoka, Tenn., he came to Memphis 39 years ago. He was a member of the First Assembly of God.

He leaves his wife; a son, Eugene P. Billings, Jr. of Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. A.C. Brown of Dallas, Texas and Miss Doris Ivy of the Oliver address; three brothers, W.F. Billings of 3511 Rockwood, Leon Billings of 1499 Stacy and C.F. Billing of 2527 Brond; three sisters, Mrs. Jack Nichols and Mrs. Lois Vigus of 3160 Nathan and Mrs. W.O. Jones of 568 Vandalia; his mother, Mrs. Maude Billings of 3160 Nathan; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.

National Funeral Home is in charge.
