Oklahoma County Treasurer for 17 years Joe B. Barnes has passed away. He won over voters with his friendly smile and tireless promotion of economic development in Midwest City and Oklahoma County. He was a long-time Midwest City resident. He was elected to the FTN Community Bank Board in 1996. He served in the U.S. Navy and was employed by FNB from 1964-1968. He left FNB as Vice President to operate personally owned businesses. He was a small business owner and real estate investor. He and his wife, Lafern, had two grown children, four grandchildren and they resided in Midwest City.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the communications center at Rose State College. Barnes Friederich Funeral Home, which was partly owned by Barnes, is handling the arrangements.
