Ruby Basham Atwell, 82, of Bristol TN died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at home. She was born in Beckley, WV, a daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. J. Lacy Basham. She had lived most of her life in Bristol. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the widow of Carl H. Atwell. She was a graduate of Knoxville Business College and a retired employee of the Virginia State Employment Commission in Bristol, VA, with 35 years of service.
Surviving are two sisters, Anne B. Thompson and Beulah B. McCray, both of Bristol Virginia; two brothers, Chalmer Lacy Basham and John Calvin Basham, both of Bristol TN; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in Glenwood Cemetery. The Rev. Stephen L. Playl will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Akard Funeral Home.
