Son of John Jacob "Jake" Becker & Rose E. Martin. His family was a pioneer family of Reno, Nevada. His father founded "Becker's" Cafe which thrived as an iconic restaurant in Reno for over 70 years.

"Death Takes J.C. Becker"

"Jack C. Becker, retired local merchant and member of a pioneer Reno family, died yesterday in a local hospital. Mr. Becker, who was 66 had been a patient for eight days.

He was born here April 20, 1892, the son of the late Jacob and Rose Becker who owned a ranch and Becker's tavern on Commercial Row. His great grandparents originally owned the University of Nevada farm site.

Mr. Becker, a life-long resident of the city, operated the Paint Mart here. His home was at 236 Washington St. He was a member of Reno Lodge 597, BPOE.

He was the husband of Mrs. Frances Becker of Reno, father of Dr. John C. Becker, William E. Becker, and Mrs. Florence Gilbert, all of Reno; grandfather of Deborah Collings, Kim and Bridget Becker, all of Reno; a brother of Mrs. Rose Heidtman of Reno and Mrs. Elizabeth Davey of San Francisco.

Funeral services, to which friends are invited, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the home chapel of Ross-Burke Co. with the Rev. John T. Leger of Trinity Episcopal church officiating.

Burial will be in the family plot at Mountain View cemetery."
