The son of Jacob Louis Pawer and Anna Winkler, he married Ms. Wilterding in December 1950; they had one son.

LtJG Pawer, Flag Lieutenant of ComCarDiv Three, was killed when the AD4N which he was flying on a routine ASP escort flight failed to pull out of a practice rocket run. He was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
