He left Pennsylvania in the spring of 1837 in company with his brother John and went West with him as far as Germantown, O., where he remained two years. He then pulled up stakes and went on westward as far as Washington, Tazewell Co., Ill., where he finally located in October, 1839. Andrew Gerberich lived at Washington 28 years, and in that time accumulated considerable property. In 1867 he bought a farm of 80 acres in Woodford County, two miles west of El Paso, Ill., which he greatly improved, and where he resided until his death. [History of the Gerberich Family in America]
