Frantisek (Frank) Tupa was born in 1802 in Smolec- now Pisek Smolec, Bohemia, Czechoslavakia. He married Anna Klonz about 1839 in Bohemia.
Frantisek came to the U. S. from Bohemia on September 18, 1868. All of their children would also come to the U. S. and first settle in Spillville, Iowa. Many of the family later traveled by wagon train to Walsh County, North Dakota.
