MRS. BAILEY DIES AT 86
MARSHALL - Funeral services for Mrs. Nan Bailey Carter, 86, of Marshall RFD 2, who died in an Asheville nursing home early Monday morning after a lengthy illness, will be held in the Old Bull Creek Baptist church near Silver's Store Tuesday at 2 p.m.
The Rev. David Roberts and Rev. N.H. Griffin will officiate. Burial will be in Bailey Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and granddaughters will be flower bearers.
The body will be at the house of Mrs. Lula Merrell until the funeral hour.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. S.L. Phillips of Mars Hill RFD 1, Mrs. Lula Merrell of Mars Hill RFD 1, Mrs. R.G. Hunter of Mars Hill and Mrs. Pearl Gosnell of Marshall RFD 2; two sons, John Willis Bailey and James Allen Bailey of Marshall RFD 1; two sisters, Mrs. John Metcalf and Miss Julia Corn of Marshall RFD 2; two brothers, J.A. Corn of Spartanburg, S.C. and Charlie Corn of Mocksville; 37 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Bowman and Rector Funeral Home is in charge.

Nancy Elizabeth Corn Bailey was the daughter of Robert Arretus Corn (1833-1904) & Elizabeth Henderson Corn (1838-1901). She was the wife of John Willis Bailey (1854-1904). She was the mother of seven children - Mollie Deliah Elizabeth Bailey (1885-1923) & James Allen bailey (1887-1967) & Lula C. Bailey (1888-1973) & Minnie Susan Bailey (1890-1977) & Pearl Vistie Bailey (1895-1989) & Orlie Alice Bailey (1897-1977) & John Willis Bailey, Jr. (1903-1967).
