J. T. Mardis, 71 years old, died at his home in the Good Hope section Tuesday afternoon, after a lengthy illness. He was one of the best known citizens of that portion of Taylor County.

He was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at the Good Hope church yesterday afternoon by Rev. D. L. Druien, pastor of the church.

He was united in marriage to Miss Alice Russell in March 1891. He is survived by his widow: Mrs. Alice Mardis; two sons: Rodman Mardis, of this county, and Henry Mardis, of Lebanon; two daughters: Mrs. Leonard Feather, Lebanon, and Mrs. James Graham, of this county; one brother and one sister.

Pallbearers were the Deacons of the Good Hope Baptist Church: J. W. Deener, J. E. Graham, J. W. Sullivan, Ed Wilson, R. F. Young and G. J. Short.
