James Edward Burnett

James Edward Burnett, 84, Shawnee, KS passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa, KS surrounded by his family and beloved Jazzy and Angel. James was born Sept. 16, 1928 in Kelso, AR to Leslie and Lenny Burnett. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. James owned and operated Burnett Construction. He was a very active member of the Village West Church, teaching Sunday School for over 40 years, serving with the Royal Ranger and ushering. James was active in the restoration of OldShawneeTown.
James was dedicated to his family and church. A very heartfelt, caring, giving and strong person, he always looked out for family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Ramona (Bussone) Burnett; his three sons, Edward (Kay) Burnett, Olathe, KS, Earl (Michelle) Burnett, Shawnee, KS and Leslie (Sandy) Burnett, Lake of the Ozarks, MO; daughter, Tammye (Gary) Bosley, Olathe, KS; brother, Tom (Shirley) Burnett; two sisters, Garnett Hickey and Rulene Kelley, both of Shawnee, KS; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Service and Visitation

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, Jan. 16 at the Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory; burial in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 11:30-1:00 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home.
