Elizabeth "Betty" Bunch Algar of Irmo
Funeral service for Elizabeth "Betty" Bunch Algar, 85, will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church, with burial in the church columbarium.
The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Algar died Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Born in Clarks Hill, S.C., she was a daughter of the late John Dallas and Myrtle May Bunch. Betty graduated from Ellen Whiteside High School in Pelzer and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina in 1946 and a Master's Degree from the University of Tennessee in 1955. She worked as a social worker at the VA Hospital for 30 years and was a member of Lake Murray Presbyterian Church. Betty also enjoyed cooking and sewing.
Surviving are her husband, James "Jim" F. Algar of Irmo; daughter, Ann Algar (Henry) Gibson of Columbia and granddaughter, Dallas Gibson (Matt) Gear of Columbia. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by son, Gene Forrester Algar; brother, Dr. John D. Bunch Jr. and sister, Melona Tillman Russell.
