Mrs. Abell was born May 9, 1937, in White County, to George Martin Sr. and Polly Selby Martin.
She was a retired receptionist for Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency, but she had a musical career in the 1950's and 1960's. She played on the Grand Ole Opry in the 1950's alongside her brother, Benny Martin, and also toured with Bill Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John Clarence Abell; three sisters: Kathryn Randolph and husband J.D., Pauline Hyder and husband Ray, Roberta Hall and husband Thaddeus; and three brothers, Benny Martin, George Martin Jr. and Gene Martin.
Funeral service will be graveside at 1 p.m., Nov. 10, 2012, at Highland Cemetery. John Murphy will officiate. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Nov. 9, at Hunter Funeral Home.
