She was born at Moweaqua, Illinois, May 5, 1879, and lived in that state until she grew to womanhood, the family coming to Harrison County, Missouri, and settling on a farm.
When about eighteen years of age she was converted and joined the Christian Church and lived a constant and devoted Christian life to the end.
In November 1903, she was married to George W. Lasswell, and to this union two sons were born, Wayne and Benjamin.
During her last illness, she often expressed her willingness to depart from this world. She was aged at the time of her death, 37 years, 10 months, and 10 days.
Besides her husband and sons, she leaves an aged mother, two brothers, 0. P. Smith, of Texas, and H. L. Smith, of Wyoming; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was buried in the cemetery adjoining Mount Zion M. E. Church west of Lamoni and in which church the funeral service was held; sermon by Elder R. S. Salyards assisted by Elder L. G. Holloway.
A large congregation witnessed the esteem in which she was held. She was a good woman, a faithful wife and mother, and has gone to rest after a life of devotion to her family and friends.
