Graveside services for Mr. Melvin "Hot" Rushing were held at 2 PM Tuesday at Lake Providence City Cemetery in Lake Providence, LA. Rev. Butch Goodman officiated under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home of Oak Grove, LA.
Melvin "Hot" Rushing was born on August 19, 1934 in Alsatia, Louisiana and passed away on January 2, 2012 in Lake Providence, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Ola Mae Rushing, great-grandson, Conner Yates, brother, Hubert Rushing, brothers-in-law, O.C. Morgan and Bill DuConge, and nephews, Christopher "DuConge and Johnny Rushing.
Mr. Rushing loved tractors and he farmed for many years. He enjoyed watching western movies and listening to country music. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather. He also was a very kind and generous friend to everyone he met, and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Sara Rushing of Transylvania, LA; daughter, Connie Yates and husband, Rufus of New Iberia, LA; son, James Rushing and wife, Carolyn of Abbeville, LA; four grandchildren, Tara Warner and husband, Paul; Billy Rushing and wife, Kelly; J. R.
