John "Pete" C. Beasley, 91, a retired farmer, died April 1, 1988, in his home. Mr Beasley, a native of Bertie County, was a member of Colerain Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War I. Survivors include his wife, Mabel Morris Beasley; a daughter, Ann Gurganus of Williamston, N.C.; a son, Nick Beasley of Colerain; a sister, Mrs. Merle Montague Sr. of Windsor, N.C.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hillcrest Cemetery by the Rev. Shelby Stephens. Garrett Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Colerain Rescue Squad or the Colerain Baptist Church.
