Vicksburg, MS—Friday, 6 March 1998

NATCHEZ—Roger D. Alford died Monday, March 2, 1998, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Lihue, Hawaii. He was 45.

A native of Natchez, Mr. Alford was a resident of Hammond, La., where he was employed as an insurance agent by Physician's Mutual Life Insurance Company. He was a 1970 graduate of Natchez High School and was of the Pentecostal faith.

Mr. Alford was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Alford; paternal grandparents, Hess and Ethel Alford; and maternal grandparents, Andrew and Ida Nations.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Rickman Alford of Hammond; his children, Gena Alford of Vicksburg, and Justin Alford and Jill Alford, both of Thibodaux, La.; his parents, Dewey "Red" and Aileen Boyd Alford of Natchez; a stepson, Paul Odom of Hammond; a brother, Willie "Renee" Alford of Tupelo; one sister, Sybil Alford of Natchez; one uncle; two aunts; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Pentecostal Church in Natchez…. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Natchez under direction of Laird Funeral Home of Natchez. Visitation will be from 4 until 9 p.m. Saturday at the church
