Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., with the Rev. Merlin Ackerson officiating. Full military rites will be performed at the graveside by the Mason City Memorial Association at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church and Hospice of North Iowa.
Stephen L. Barron was born Dec. 29, 1908, in Mason City, to Stephen E. and Maryanne (Leonard) Barron. He attended Mason City schools and graduated from Mason City High School in 1927. He also attended Mason City Junior College. He served in the United States Army from April 1942 to November 1945.
He was married to Berniece A. Davis on Aug. 19, 1942, in Mason City.
Stephen worked for Mason City Brick and Tile Company for some 40 years, retiring in 1974.
He enjoyed gardening and playing golf as well as working with crafts.
He was a member of First United Methodist church and the V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Berniece A. Barron of Mason City; one son, Michael Barron and fiancée Cynthia Fett, Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Clark, and brothers, Milton and Clyde.
