Joseph was the son of William & Luvina Jane White Alexander. He marred Bertha Agnes Jarrett, the daughter of Jonathan & Lydia Fender Jarrett, on October 1, 1898 in Wayne County, Indiana. The couple were the parents of Oran C., Lois Leona, Earl, Audrey and Lowell Everett Alexander. Mr. Alexander supported his family by farming his own land. He passed away from the effects of chronic pyelonephritis.

•Obituary-Joseph M. Alexander, 78, a retired farmer, died Sunday night. He resided at R.R. 2, New Paris.

Survivors include the widow, Bertha; three sons, Oran and Earl, both of Rural Route 2, Richmond, and Lowell of Corcoran, Calif; two daughters, Mrs. Howard Steen, of Richmond and Mrs. Denver Cofield, Rural Route 2, Richmond; two brothers, Clem of Rural Route 2, Richmond, and Elwood, of Rural Route 2, New Paris; one sister, Mrs. Joe Brooks, of Jacksonburg; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Jones and Placke Funeral Home in Richmond with burial in the Goshen Cemetery.
