ALLEN, O. H.
(1844~1926)

On January 17, 1864, Allen enlisted in the Confederate Army in Savannah and was mustered into Captain John W. Brook's Company of the Georgia Light Artillery, which was also known as the Terrell Light Artillery. Having joined the Confederacy so late in the War, Allen did not experience much fighting. But, in December, 1864, the company was engaged in defending Savannah. From there, Allen and his fellow troops took part in the North Carolina Campaign and surrendered with the Army of the Tennessee. Allen was paroled on May 2, 1865, at Greensboro, North Carolina, and returned to his home state of Georgia. SOURCE: http://www.cemetery.state.tx.us-

Oliver was the thirteenth child of Leland Allen and Elizabeth Brown White. Oliver had one younger half-sister. His brother, Columbus, was born in November 1844, thus he was younger and added two years to join the CSA. SOURCE Dave Boatman
