Another little known great is gone. Richard Rowland Sorensen, born in Patterson December 23, 1928, to Walter and Marguerite Sorensen, passed away Sunday, December 7th.

A professional Engineer working for Aerojet in the 60's, he was one of the lead engineers who designed the rocket engines on the Lunar Lander. After Aerojet he worked for Bechtel and Atomics International. He was a stress engineer on nuclear power plants in the 70's, 80's and 90's and they have never had a problem with the power plants due to stress on the ones he worked on.

Survived by son, Stan Sorensen of Oakdale; sister, Marge (Don) Green of Modesto; grandchildren, Jessica (Joe) and Christopher (Julie) and great-grandchild, Chaise. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Sorensen; son, Keith; mother, Marguerite; wife, Marilynn; brother, Stewart (Betty); step-brothers and sisters, Howard, Joyce and Darleen (Bill).

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 22nd at Patterson District Cemetery in Patterson.

Services conducted by Hillview Funeral Chapel, Patterson.
