Served in the Civil War: Co A 45th Reg KY Vol Mounted Inf.
Enlisted 18 Jul 1863, Honorable discharge 24 Dec 1864 at Catlettsburg, Kentucky.

Married 1st to Susan B. Davis 28 Nov 1865. He had 2 children by her, Rachel F, b 1867, Mary C. b 1869. Per Zachariahs Civil War papers, Susan abandoned him and moved to Indiana with a Silas Richardson, where she had 2 more children Wylie & Missouri Richardson.

Zachariah remarried 26 Aug 1869 to Emma Jane Howell. Per 1900 census records Emma had 12 children with 9 children living. I have found 10 of those children, but 2 remain unaccounted for. I am assuming they died in infancy.
