HOLLIDAY - Jon Lamar, aged 63, of New Braunfels, TX passed away quietly on November 22, 2014 after a short and courageous fight with cancer.

Jon was born on his mother's birthday, April 10, 1951 in Mineola, NY to Cyril and Muriel (Lamar) Holliday.

Jon retired from the Army in 1995 as a Sergeant First Class. His Army career began in 1974 and he served as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, working in orthopedics, pediatrics, and as a dialysis technician.

After retirement, he exercised his compassionate nursing skills in private practice for another 19 years, dedicating himself to a lifetime of devotion and skill to caring for the sick.

While stationed in Germany he met his wife, Jackie. Jon's life was strongly centered on his family, and he was very involved in his children's and grandchildren's lives and was the ultimate helpmate to Jackie.

He loved cooking, and reveled in maintaining and working outdoors on his "ranch."

Preceding him in death were his mother, father and oldest brother, Michael.

He is survived by his wife and three children, Eric, Joshua, and Sara; grandchildren Alex, Analis, and Michael; sister Pam Allen; brothers Mark and Scott Holliday; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Military honor services held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Jon's memory to The Gold Ribbon Rescue (a Golden Retriever Rescue non-profit (grr-tx.com/about/how-can-i-help))
