Norman Adrian Parks, 92 died December 12. 2012. Norman was a long time resident of Leavenworth, Kansas. Born September 1, 1920 in Hannibal, Missouri the fourth son of Edward Andrew Parks and Amber Grace King Parks. He was a WWII veteran who joined the Army Air Corp Dec 8, 1941, a day after the Pearl Harbor attack. He enlisted with his brother, John, a cousin, and a friend. Norman married his sweetheart Doris Sloan in Madison, Wisconsin on March 8, 1944. . In 1946 he ended his service at Fort Leavenworth. After the military he went to work at Tholen Brothers Plumbing and Electrical Supply. He purchased Tholen 1971 with five other employees from Charles Tholen. He and his partners sold Tholen Brothers in 1982. He retired from Tholen in March 1983 to pursue his passion of refinishing antique furniture. He later started an antiques business and had a booth in the Beverly Hills Antique Mall. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers and two sisters, one grandchild and his wife of sixty-seven years. He is survived by his son Timothy Parks and wife Eileen Leavenworth; his daughters Nancy Baker and husband Neal of Pomona, Kansas, and Sandra Ackerman and husband Grant of Poughkeepsie, New York. He had eight grandchildren Beth Hazels, Ami Jenkins, Jana Rideout, Jennie Mellor, Sara Kellogg, Melanie Parks, John Baker and Adrian Baker. He had six great-children Kate, Maddy, Ellen, Miles, Lizzy and Dylan. His gentle loving nature will be missed by all. Norman loved to talk with people, loved his family and friends, and loved reading and refinishing furniture. He belonged to Calvary Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, NRA and the Heritage Foundation.
