Sarah (Rush) Woolever is the daughter of William P. and Rebecca (Slack) Rush, who are buried in Summerfield Methodist Church Cemetery in Summerfield, NJ.
Sarah was born in a location locally called Montana Mountain, Warren Co., NJ, was md. either 18 Aug 1835 (public records, St. John's Lutheran Church, Easton, Northampton Co., PA) or 5 Mar 1835 (as noted in a Rush Family Bible) and migrated to Hocking Co., OH, ca 1837 with her husband, John S. Woolever, and one infant.

After the birth of their 12th child, John S. left home. Sarah and the 9 living children fended for themselves in a 2-story cabin in Hocking County wilderness, farming rugged ground to survive. In 1865 Sarah divorced John S. and it is unknown where he died or when. It is possible he died "at Newark" (as told by one of his daughters) in Licking County by 1877, as there is an estate paper for a John Woolever dated 1876 and 1877. Thanks to Find A Grave volunteers, a grave for John Woolever, Find A Grave Memorial# 73097252, has been located with the same death date that is listed in the Woolever Family Bible. The father of John S. Woolever (who migrated to Ohio with John, Sarah, John's sister, Christiana Mettler), Philip Woolever is buried in Prospect Cemetery, Find-A-Grave Memorial# 71337576.

pg. 653 of Pick Co Hist: "Sarah was born and reared in Warren Co., NJ, in which state her grandparents, who were natives of Germany had settled prior to the Revolutionary War. In 1837 John Woolever and wife came to Hocking County, Ohio, accompanied by Mr. Woolever's aged father, [Phillip Woolever, b. 9 Nov 1786, d. 21 Nov 1864, buried at Prospect Cemetery, Hocking Co., OH], [her husband's sister and young family, Burlean and Christiana (Woolever) Mettler,] and their [own infant] daughter, Catherine.
