In the 1930 census he was listed as 91, living in Farmdale, and a widower.

William was married to Isabella Augusta "Herriott" Crowley in the 1880s. They built and lived in a hotel in Tombstone, AZ until the summer of 1884 when it burned down. For awhile (before his marriage) he went by the name of Billy Allen. His wife was a high-end seamstress who moved from San Francisco to open her own business in Tombstone.
